Charcool is all-natural-ingredient biomaterial with activated charcoal invented and refined by Isabela Chan and Pablo Ejarque-González that has endless applications. Its matte black finish brings a differentiator look to the biomaterial world.
In this first series, Pablo designed and crafted a series seat as a bridge to connect Charcool with the furniture realm. The Copper Cube Stool is born through a meticulous dipping and casting process of the biomaterial, merging seamlessly with a copper base adorned with a simple protective coat. The organic imprints of the creation process, marked by fingerprints contributing to the patina, and the biomaterial enveloping the copper, together create a distinctive piece. The Copper Cube Chair, on the other hand, is exclusively crafted through the casting process of the biomaterial. Connected to an exterior polished brushed copper back, the perfect cubic biomaterial seat does not show any manufacturing mark.Together, these pieces demonstrate the versatility of both materials, the nuanced interplay between them, and their dynamic engagement with both the creator and the user.
